Modern Warfare added a lot of different changes that made the game very similar to Battlefield , especially with the revamp of the Ground War multiplayer mode. Assuming Battlefield still wants to revisit other pivotal points in history, there is one time period the franchise touched on very briefly. Returning to Vietnam would be perfect for the Battlefield franchise because the combat during the Vietnam War emphasizes what the series has done best. Plus, a vignette-style campaign like in Battlefield 1 but set during the Vietnam War could be incredibly interesting, and considering the many diverse perspectives the player could view the war through would provide a very compelling story. "Functionally" is the key word there, as later games featured destruction as more of a gimmick rather than a pivotal game mechanic. Battlefield 4 harkened back to this idea with its "Levolution Events" during certain Operations, but they were highly scripted and not as dynamic like the Bad Company games. What's more impressive is how, even with all these elements of choice and weapon customization, guns still fit right in with the staples of the Create-A-Class system. Even amongst all of the possibilities of unfair advantages with Gunsmith, the system was balanced surprisingly well with perk distribution in multiplayer. Duplicates like faster reloading perks were adjusted and changed, and some existing perks were routed into different tiers to compensate for new weapon perks and attachments. Gunsmith's comprehensive customization allowed greater variety, largely without sacrificing competitive balance in the process.
